Red Ballerina is a cultivar originating from Japan. It has an elegant tree form with small, glossy, crimson-colored leaves that are wax-like in texture. It does not get scorched during the summer due to the continuous growth of new red branches. The new leaves emerge in February according to the lunar calendar and the old leaves persist until November, which is about half a month earlier in leafing out and a month later in leaf fall compared to regular red maples. During spring, summer, and autumn, the tree produces new leaves that are vibrant red and exceptionally beautiful. It is an excellent new variety of ornamental foliage plant, suitable for solitary planting, group planting, and as a street tree, captivating people with its passionate charm, resembling "a red-sleeved dancer among emerald clouds". It also thrives as a remarkable foliage plant in gardens. When positioned against evergreen trees or white walls, the landscape becomes particularly enchanting.

红舞姬产自日本，树姿优美，叶较小，猩红色，蜡质，有光泽，夏季不灼伤（因夏季新枝不断生长，顶枝一直鲜红）。新叶出于农历二月，老叶落至十一月，较普通红枫提早半个月出叶，落叶推迟一个月左右。春夏秋三季新叶吐红,叶色鲜艳美丽,是优秀的观叶园林植物新品种,无论是孤植、群植还是作为行道树种植,能以“红袖善舞翠云间”的火热魅力,让人们陶醉其中,也是优秀的观叶园林植物新品种。若以常绿树或白色墙体为背景,景观尤为美丽。
